The UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security (2015) portrays youth as agents of change rather than perpetrators or victims of violence. Agenda 2250 recognises the positive role youth can play in peacebuilding. It concerns how youth in conflict-affected societies can meaningfully be included and how to promote the representation and participation of youth in peacebuilding efforts. Sustainable peacebuilding implies inclusive practices. Numerous youth associations are engaged in the field of peace and security in Nordic countries. But how can youth in Nordic countries contribute to sustainable peacebuilding? The Nordic youth are engaged, individuals and associations who live and, foremost, work remotely from conflict-affected societies. This workshop facilitates a dialogue among Nordic youth associations on their potential to contribute to Agenda 2250. In addition, the workshop introduces links between Agenda 2250 and other UN agendas, peacebuilding theory, and reflections on peacebuilding capacities in the Nordic countries.
Centre for Resolution of International Conflicts (CRIC) hosts the workshop on the occasion of the visit of United Nations Youth Association (UNYA) Finland to UNYA Denmark. 20-30 members of different youth associations working in the field of peace and security are expected to participate in the workshop.
Are you part of a youth association and would like to participate in the workshop? Please contact Maria Stage: email@example.com.
