Understanding Student Heterogeneity Using Evaluation Panel Data
The project develops and tests a method for creating evaluation panel data, i.e. linking individual student evaluations over time. Over the course of five lectures in a large undergraduate course on research methods in political science, I collected data on students' evaluations of the readings for each lecture using a novel method allowing for linking evaluations across lectures. The final data set contains a total of 1,218 evaluations of 8 readings from 317 students. Results from a clustering analysis indicate some heterogeneity in evaluations, which may inform future changes to the course syllabus.
