Do you want some background to the ongoing debate on freedom of speech and expression at university? Then come join this talk by Daniel Diermeier, Chancellor at Vanderbilt University, one of the people behind the highly debated Chicago Principles.

Should universities be open for debates on all topics? Or do we need principles for what we can and cannot talk about?

That's the topic of the talk by one of the people behind the widely debated Chicago Principles, Chancellor Daniel Diermeier from Vanderbilt University.

He will be interviewed by Dean Mikkel Vedby Rasmussen and there will be plenty of time to ask questions.

The event is open for staff, students and everyone else. No registration is required

The Chicago principles are a set of guiding principles intended to demonstrate a commitment to freedom of speech and freedom of expression on college campuses in the United States. More than 80 U.S. universities and colleges have adopted or endorsed the principles. In 2021 the Liberal Alliance Party proposed that the principles should be incorporated into the Danish University Act.

Daniel Diermeier is Chancellor at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He was part of the management at the University of Chicago when the Chicago Principles were adopted in 2014.
